Qualifications:
High school diploma, GED, or trade school education. Proficiency in the use of computerized machine controls, weight scales, comparators, microscope, precision measurement instruments, hand tools, and specialized trade tools. Use of computers to perform data entry and document production. Mechanical aptitude and use of significant mathematical skills. Must be able to proofread documents, read blueprints, train others, complete production paperwork. Experience with Swiss-type lathes is required. Responsibilities:
Work from programming, operational data drawings, part drawings and set up instructions defining and coding tool arrangements, fixturing, material clamping methods, machine calibration and console settings for operations such as bore, mill, drill, face, thread profile and contour. Perform basic machine programming and editing duties as needed in product groups where dedicated machine programmers are not available. Arrange, mount and secure tooling in machine rack, magazine, or turrets; mount, align and secure holding fixture or locate, support and clamp work piece in absence of holding fixtures; set stops, calibrate fixture, or work piece to material reference point. Restock machines with appropriate materials. Keep multiple machines set-up and running. Upload program from various media and correlate machine position with control; manually cycle machine through operation sequence to check fixture and work alignment, tooling sequences, clearances, feeds, speed etc. and adjust machine to correct deviations from program specifications. Grind special and standard tooling to compensate for material characteristics, variations, and cutting conditions. Recognize and report technical variations in program and operational sequences, tool settings, dimensional and finish deviations, defective material, faulty equipment, and assist with or individually make corrective adjustments. Make minor equipment repairs. Use micrometers, scale, protractor, calipers, verniers, surface gauges, and indicator, etc. to make set ups and check work to maintain quality of parts being machined. Input data into SPC software and maintain SPC charts as required.
