Manufacturing Manager / Operations Manager Position Summary The Senior CNC Machinist is responsible for leading CNC programming, setup, and machining operations in an AS9100-compliant manufacturing environment supporting aerospace and U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) programs. This position requires advanced technical expertise, strict adherence to quality and documentation requirements, and the ability to mentor junior machinists while ensuring production, safety, and quality objectives are met. Key Responsibilities
  • Program, set up, and operate CNC milling and turning equipment for complex, close-tolerance components.
  • Create, edit, and optimize CNC programs using Autodesk Fusion (CAD/CAM).
  • Manage CNC program control, revision history, and data transfer using Cimco NcBase/DNC.
  • Ensure full compliance with AS9100 quality requirements, including process control, inspection, and documentation.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, GD&T, and router instructions.
  • Perform first article inspections (FAI) and support AS9102 documentation requirements.
  • Select tooling, fixtures, cutting strategies, and materials for efficiency and repeatability.
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts to resolve machining, tooling, or quality issues.
  • Maintain detailed production and quality records to support audit readiness and traceability.
  • Mentor and support junior machinists and operators; provide technical guidance and training.
  • Follow all ITAR, DoD, and company confidentiality and security requirements.
  • Support continuous improvement, lean manufacturing, and corrective action initiatives. Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical degree or formal apprenticeship preferred.
  • 7+ years of progressive CNC machining experience, including programming responsibility.
  • Advanced proficiency in CNC machining, G-code, setups, tooling, and process optimization.
  • Demonstrated experience working in AS9100 or equivalent regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Strong blueprint reading skills, including GD&T and tight-tolerance requirements.
  • Proficiency using precision measuring and inspection equipment. Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) or aerospace manufacturing programs.
  • Hands-on experience with Autodesk Fusion for CAD/CAM programming.
  • Experience managing programs via Cimco NcBase/DNC systems.
  • Familiarity with First Article Inspection (AS9102) and internal/external audit support.
  • Experience mentoring machinists or serving in a lead or senior role. Physical and Work Requirements
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds as required.
  • Ability to work safely around industrial machinery and tooling.
  • Willingness to work overtime or flexible schedules in support of customer and program requirements.
