Milling Specialist (CNC/Manual)

Conyers, Georgia Job Type:
Full-Time Salary:
(Hourly $21-$29+) Competitive, Based on Experience Job Description We are looking for a highly skilled Milling Specialist with extensive experience operating manual and CNC milling machines to produce precision components. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical aptitude, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to interpret complex blueprints and technical drawings. Experience with high-precision vertical or horizontal machining centers is preferred.
Responsibilities Setup & Operation:
Set up and operate manual and CNC milling machines (VMCs/HMCs).
Technical Interpretation:
Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine sequence of operations.
Parameter Optimization:
Select appropriate tooling, work-holding (vises, fixtures, indexing heads), speeds, and feed rates for milling operations.
Quality Assurance:
Inspect finished products using precision instruments to ensure they meet strict quality and dimensional specifications.
Maintenance:
Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on machines to ensure optimal performance.
Safety & Organization:
Follow all safety guidelines and maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work environment.
Collaboration:
Work closely with the production team and engineers to meet deadlines and maintain high quality standards.
Qualifications Required:
Experience:
Minimum 3-5 years as a machinist specifically focused on milling in a precision manufacturing environment.
Technical Skills:
Machine Proficiency:
Expert operation of CNC milling centers (3-axis or 4-axis preferred) and manual mills (Bridgeport style).
Blueprint Reading:
Advanced ability to interpret technical drawings and a solid understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
Quality Control:
Mastery of precision measuring tools, including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and bore gauges.
Work Ethic:
Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced production environment. Preferred Experience with the
Following Equipment:
Milling Centers:
Haas VF Series, Mazak VCN/HCN, or Okuma MB/MA series.
Controls:
Fanuc, Haas, or Mazak (Mazatrol) controls.
Additional Preferred Qualifications Programming:
Experience with CNC programming software (Mastercam, Fusion 360) and conversational programming at the controller.
Material Knowledge:
Proficiency machining a variety of materials, including tool steel, aluminum, stainless steel, and aerospace alloys.
Setup Skills:
Ability to perform complex setups, including indicating parts and setting tool offsets from scratch.
Fabrication:
General fabrication or welding experience is a plus.
Compensation / Pay
Rate (Up to): $21.00 - $29.00
