We are offering a Machinist Trainee program as a dynamic pathway to a new rewarding career, empowering motivated individuals to develop essential mechanical and technical skills. As a Manual Machinist Trainee, you will gain hands-on experience working with lathe machines, precision measurement tools, and job rotations throughout the manufacturing processes. This role is perfect for those passionate about hands-on learning, mechanical equipment and continuous improvement.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
  • Demonstrate safe work practices at all times
  • Follow step-by-step processes for machining custom parts
  • Use precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, dial indicators)
  • Set up pump components and other parts on manual shop equipment (lathes, milling machines, Bridgeport mills)
  • Perform drilling, reaming, and boring operations
  • Perform threading operations using taps and dies
  • Calculate cutting speeds and feeds
  • Understand and apply coolants and lubricants for machining operations
  • Perform basic lathe operations: turning, facing, boring, etc.
  • Receive training in blueprint reading and interpretation
  • Assist with general shop tasks as needed
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area Pre-Requisites
  • Candidates must pass a fundamental placement test to gauge readiness.
  • Hands-on experience in a university or technical training machine shop or other hands-on mechanical experience
  • Strong math skills, including measurement, fractions/decimals, and basic geometry since precision is critical in machining.
  • Ability to read blueprints.
  • Good hand-eye coordination and mechanical aptitude.
  • A willingness to problem-solve to machine refurbished pump components into a flawless metal part. Preferred Background
  • Exposure to small lathes, milling machines, or Bridgeport-style mills
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and interest in machining
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow step-by-step instructions
  • Dependable, safety-conscious, and eager to learn
  • Willing and able to work full-time in this training program for approximately 6 months, then transition into a full-time position What We Offer
