You've got the print, you understand the geometric tolerances, and you know exactly how to set the job so the first piece comes off right—and every piece after follows suit. That's the craft we're hiring for. Mission Deliver consistent, tight-tolerance parts by mastering setup, monitoring, and continuous improvement on CNC lathes. Impact Areas Operate CNC turning centers from 2-axis to multi-axis, including live tooling. Translate blueprints and GD&T into sound machining strategies. Load raw stock, manage workholding/fixtures, and oversee the entire cycle. Optimize offsets, tooling, feeds, and speeds for quality and efficiency. Complete first-article and in-process checks using micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and indicators. Hold tolerances typically within ±0.002 inches or better. Replace inserts and tools; address chatter, tool wear, and dimensional deviations. Keep equipment clean and follow preventive maintenance routines. Accurately document runs and quality data. Tools of the Trade Turning centers with 2-axis, multi-axis, and live tooling capability.
Controls:
Fanuc, Haas, Mazak.
Metrology:
micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and dial indicators.
Cutting tools:
inserts, boring bars, drills, and reamers. Qualifications Expertise in CNC turning processes. Proficiency with GD&T and complex print interpretation. Knowledge of speeds/feeds and cutting materials. Competent in shop math; trigonometry experience helpful. Detail-oriented with a strong quality focus. Education & Experience High school diploma or GED required. Technical certificate or associate degree preferred. 3-5+ years of CNC lathe operation (varies by employer). Apprenticeships or on-the-job training are common paths. Work Setting Extended standing; lifting 25-50 lbs. Exposure to noise, coolant, and metal chips.
PPE required:
safety glasses, steel-toe footwear, etc.
Compensation Experienced range:
$20-$24 per hour in the U.S. Advance Your Career CNC Programmer Lead Machinist / Supervisor Manufacturing Engineer Quality Inspector / CMM Programmer Make Your Application Stand Out Live tooling or Swiss-style lathe experience. CAM proficiency (Mastercam, Fusion 360). Multi-axis exposure (4-axis / 5-axis).
