Job Description
Machinist - Mt. Vernon Facility TRM NRE is seeking an experienced Machinist to join our team at our Mt. Vernon facility. This role is responsible for machining locomotive and engine components to precise specifications while maintaining a strong focus on quality and safety. Key Responsibilities Machine various locomotive and engine components Machine components from raw materials based on blueprint requirements Review setup sheets and specifications to determine machining sequence and finished dimensions Operate lathes, horizontal and vertical mills, and drill presses Load and position workpieces in fixtures according to process sheets or instructions Adjust machine controls and settings to ensure proper operation Observe machine performance to detect malfunctions or tool wear Change cutting tools and reposition workpieces as required during the machining process Measure finished parts using precision tools to ensure conformance to specifications Notify supervisor or Production Manager of any discrepancies or quality concerns Follow all safety rules, policies, and workplace procedures Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications & Experience Experience machining parts from raw materials using blueprints Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings Proficiency using micrometers, calipers, and other precision measuring tools Experience operating lathes, horizontal and vertical mills, and drill presses Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work Good problem-solving skills and a positive, team-oriented attitude Reliable attendance and punctuality Working Conditions Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts and vibration Occasional exposure to fumes or airborne particles Moderate noise levels in a manufacturing environment Additional Information This position is part of a union and requires you to join or be a member of the United Industrial, Service, Transportation, Professional and Government Workers of North America TRM NRE is a drug-free workplace Compensation is based on
