Job Description

at Comet Roll & Machine Co in Saint Charles, Illinois, United States Job Description Set up, program, and operate conventional and CNC machine tools, including lathes, milling machines, grinders, and related equipment, to fabricate precision metal parts in accordance with engineering drawings and specifications. Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and engineering data to determine machining methods, sequences of operations, and tooling requirements. Measure, inspect, and test completed components using precision instruments such as micrometers and vernier calipers to ensure conformance to dimensional tolerances and quality standards. Monitor machine performance, adjust feed and speed settings, and troubleshoot machining issues to maintain production efficiency and accuracy. Align and secure fixtures, tooling, and materials; maintain equipment in proper operating condition; and diagnose mechanical malfunctions to determine necessary repairs or adjustments. Fit and assemble machined parts and install repaired or newly fabricated components into equipment. Collaborate with engineering, programming, and manufacturing personnel to verify CNC programs, improve machining procedures, and develop tooling or fixtures to meet specialized production requirements. Support metalworking projects from planning and fabrication through assembly, inspection, and testing while ensuring compliance with company policies and safety regulations.
