5 Axis CNC Machinist

Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented 5 Axis CNC Machinist to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will operate and program advanced 5-axis CNC milling machines to produce complex parts with precision and efficiency. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in CNC programming, machine setup, and operation, with a strong understanding of manufacturing processes, technical drawings, and measurement tools. Duties Set up, operate, and program 5-axis CNC milling machines using CAD/CAM software to produce intricate components according to detailed specifications. Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing), and manufacturing instructions to ensure accurate machining. Conduct machine calibration, tool changes, and adjustments to optimize performance and maintain tight tolerances. Utilize precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM) to verify part dimensions. Perform routine maintenance on CNC equipment, including electrical discharge machining (EDM) processes when required. Collaborate with engineering and design teams using SolidWorks and CAD software for toolpath development and troubleshooting. Ensure adherence to safety protocols and quality standards throughout the manufacturing process. Maintain accurate documentation of machine setups, adjustments, and inspection results for quality assurance purposes. Requirements Proven experience as a 5 Axis CNC Machinist with expertise in CNC programming (Fanuc controls preferred) and operation of CNC milling machines. Strong knowledge of CAD/CAM software such as SolidWorks, Mastercam, or similar platforms. Proficiency in reading blueprints, GD&T specifications, and mechanical drawings. Familiarity with electrical discharge machining (EDM), tooling selection, and fixture setup. Mechanical aptitude with a solid understanding of manufacturing processes including plastics injection molding when applicable. Ability to use precision measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM). Basic math skills for calculations related to machining tolerances and dimensions. Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles for continuous process improvement. Experience working with power tools, hand tools, welding equipment, forklifts, and assembly procedures is a plus. Strong attention to detail coupled with excellent problem-solving skills.
