CNC Machinist - 2nd shift Ottenweller - 2.5 Fort Wayne, IN Job Details Full-time 3 hours ago Benefits Health insurance Dental insurance 401(k) Employee assistance program Life insurance Qualifications Blueprint specification interpretation High school diploma or GED Dimensional measurements Machining Grinding Precision measurement in machining Cleaning Mechanical knowledge CNC Load & unload Full Job Description Sets up and operates conventional, special purpose, and CNC machines and machining centers to fabricate metallic parts by performing the following duties. Must be able to train on 1st shift, 7:00am-3:30pm.
Essential Duties:
Studies blueprints, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpiece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements. Selects program if available or programs functions to create a part per blueprint by selecting fields to enter part and tool set-ups considering tools needed, tolerances, material type, quantity and resources available. Measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points on material or workpiece as guides for subsequent machining. Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines. Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media. Runs trial to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed data control. Runs machining center, including but not limited to, prepping parts, loading parts, starting and observing machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, adjusting machining controls, and unloading parts. Grinds, files and sands machined parts. Cleans machined parts. Performs first-piece and in-process inspection by checking dimensions of part per blueprint using calipers, micrometers, indicators, and tape measure. Inspects parts according to C=0 chart. Completes inspection form. Performs routine preventative maintenance and general repairs on machines as required. Completes maintenance log. Sets up and operates manual machining equipment as assigned Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED), one to two years related experience and/or training or an equivalent combination of education and experience, and ability to read and interpret blueprint and to read basic measuring tools are required. Previous CNC programming and set up experience preferred. Strong mechanical aptitude.
