Clarificion from the agency Current members of the Kansas Army Nional Guard or current or prior service military members who are eligible to become a member of the Kansas Army Nional Guard. Duties Help As a MACHINIST, WG-3414-11, you will perform all types of machining operions to manufacture, modify, and repair parts, support equipment, tools, and assemblies. Fabrice local manufactured items required for multiple components. Work includes bending, cutting, forming, casting, cleaning, molding, welding, sawing, machining, and assembling. Compare machine parts with drawings, technical orders, or specificions for conformance with established tolerances, fits, and surface finish. Make precision measurements using micrometer, vernier calipers, dial indicors, and gauges various dimensions. Inspect tapered surfaces for variions by applying bearing blue and using surface ple. Determine reparability of damaged machine parts, tools, and components. Perform shop calculions such as determinion of peripheral cutting speeds and settings. Determine metal identity and characteristics by subjecting metals to spark, acid, fire, magnetic, alkaline, he, quench, and fracture tests. Test specimens for predetermined requirements of tensile, bend, shear, and impact strength using merials testing machines. Perform other duties as assigned. Sets up and operes most types of conventional and/or Computer Numerical Control (CNC)machine tools such as lhes; vertical and horizontal boring mills; bench, plane, or universal milling machines; shapers and planers; internal and external grinders, thread grinders; and radial drills. Grinds and sharpens tools, selects tools, jigs, and fixtures required to achieve specific dimensions, tolerances, and surface finishes. Sets up work in vises and between centers, uses chucks, standard faceples, angle ple mountings, and collets. Uses mandrel and various other machine tool tachments such as rotary vises, dividing heads, taper tachments, magnetic checks, vertical milling heads, tapping tachments, and rotary tables. Adjusts and sets speeds and feeds of machinery and determines coolants, lubricants, and abrasives to be used, taking into considerion the characteristics of both the machinery and the merials to be worked. Operes machine tools to cut, drill, bore, tap, ream, shape, turn, mill, grind, hone, and lap items. Maintains dimensional accuracy during machining processes frequently, machining to tolerances th are difficult to tain or hold.
Work Schedule:
This position works on a 4/10's compressed work schedule with four 10-hour days, Tuesday-Friday each week of the pay period. Work schedule is subject to change based on mission requirements. Requirements Help Conditions of employment

GENERAL EXPERIENCE
: Experience or training th has provided the candide with a basic knowledge of machining processes. Must have the ability to use drill presses, shapers, planers and other types of associed machine tools.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE
: Experience or training performing the full range of machining operions on most types of conventional or CNC machine tools and their various tachments. Experience or training in planning and lay out work from blueprints, worksheets and other drawings th may have missing or incorrect informion. Skill in applying shop mhemics in establishing needed dimensions, such as those required for chasing threads or machining angular surfaces; locing and marking surfaces and angles to be machined. Skill in programming machining operions, setting up and opering CNC machine tools. Knowledge of and ability to apply advanced shop mhemics such as geometric and trigonometric formulas to make compution for laying out work, machining pieces unusual or compound angles, determining gear rios pitch, angles and other similar exact or precision dimension.
