CNC Machinist Job Description This role is responsible for operating CNC and manual machine tools to produce precision metal parts in a manufacturing environment. You will set up, operate, and adjust equipment to ensure parts meet exact specifications, while maintaining safety, quality, and efficiency throughout the machining process. Responsibilities + Operate machine tools such as saws, lathes, milling machines, grinders, and CNC mills to produce precision metal parts in various quantities. + Review and interpret electronic and written blueprints to understand dimensions, tolerances, and machining requirements. + Calculate cutting and boring locations using appropriate measuring devices to ensure accuracy and adherence to specifications. + Set up and secure workpieces correctly on machines to ensure safe and precise cutting operations. + Determine appropriate feed speeds and cutting parameters for each job to optimize quality and efficiency. + Determine the amount of material to remove based on blueprints and job requirements, ensuring parts meet final dimensions. + Select suitable tools, fixtures, and materials for each machining operation. + Plan the sequence of cutting, drilling, boring, and finishing operations to achieve the desired part configuration. + Change out tooling and blades as needed, ensuring tools are properly installed, aligned, and maintained. + Perform CNC machine setups, including loading programs, setting offsets, and verifying first-piece quality. + Use drill presses, shears, and other shop equipment to support machining and fabrication tasks. + Inspect parts during and after machining to verify that they meet precise specifications and quality standards. + Make basic edits to CNC programs as needed to improve part quality or machining efficiency, where qualified. + Support welding, assembly, and other manufacturing processes as needed, within skill level. + Follow all safety procedures, use required personal protective equipment, and maintain a clean, organized work area.
