Job Title:
Machinist Job Description This role focuses on producing precision components from blueprints, models, and verbal instructions using CNC mills and CNC lathes in a clean, climate-controlled machining environment. The machinist sets up and operates equipment, performs basic programming, inspects finished work with precision tools, and carries out general machine maintenance while occasionally traveling as needed. Responsibilities Produce new precision components from blueprints, models, and verbal instructions while meeting quality and dimensional specifications. Set up and operate CNC mills and CNC lathes, including complete machine setups and tool changes. Create, adjust, and run CNC programs using G-code and conversational controls to manufacture parts to specification. Read and interpret blueprints accurately and analyze dimensions, tolerances, and machining requirements before and during production. Use inspection equipment such as calipers, micrometers, and height gauges to verify dimensions and ensure parts meet quality standards. Perform general maintenance and minor repairs on machining equipment, including cleaning, lubrication, and basic mechanical adjustments. Keep machines, workstations, and tools clean, organized, and in good working order to support safe and efficient operations. Set up and maintain cutting tools, workholding devices, and fixtures required for each job. Collaborate with team members and supervisors to clarify requirements and resolve machining or quality issues. Utilize basic G-code knowledge to modify or troubleshoot CNC programs when needed. Leverage CAD/CAM software such as Mastercam and AutoCAD Lite, or equivalent systems, to support programming and machining processes as applicable. Perform welding tasks when needed, if qualified, to support fabrication and repair work. Lift materials and components up to 35 pounds routinely as part of daily machining activities. Travel to other locations as required to support machining, installation, or related work. Essential Skills Proven ability to produce new components from blueprints, models, and verbal instructions. Hands-on experience operating CNC mills and CNC lathes. Ability to proficiently read and analyze blueprints, including dimensions and tolerances. Strong mechanical aptitude with skills in maintenance and general repair of machining equipment. Proficiency in using inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, and height gauges to verify part quality. Working knowledge of G and M codes for CNC programming and adjustments. Ability to perform complete machine setups, including tooling, fixturing, and program loading. Capability to lift up to 35 pounds on a routine basis. Willingness and ability to travel as required for the role. Mechanical inclination and comfort working with machining tools and equipment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with CNC mills, CNC lathes, EDM machines, and NC saws. Familiarity withHURCO CNC
mills and lathes or similar conversational control systems. Experience with SODICK EDMW or comparable EDM equipment. Exposure to conversational programming platforms; willingness to learn HURCO conversational programming is highly valued. Programming experience with Mastercam and AutoCAD Lite, or other CAD/CAM systems that can be adapted to the tools in use. Experience with welding is preferred but not required. Ability to perform general machine maintenance, including cleaning, oiling, and basic mechanical upkeep. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality, accurate parts. Work Environment The role is based in a clean, modern machining environment equipped with newer CNC mills, CNC lathes, EDM machines, and NC saws. The facility is climate controlled, providing a comfortable and consistent temperature for year-round work. Machinists regularly work with precision inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, and height gauges, as well as CAD/CAM software including Mastercam and AutoCAD Lite or similar systems. The position involves routine lifting of materials up to 35 pounds and may require travel to other locations. The shop emphasizes general machine maintenance, including keeping equipment clean, oiled, and properly tooled, to support safe, efficient, and high-quality production. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lebanon, KY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
