Job Title:
CNC Machinist Job Description This role focuses on operating and programming CNC machines in a manufacturing and fabrication environment. You will set up and run CNC equipment, edit programs, and support machining operations within the facility and regional sister facilities to ensure high-quality, precise production. Responsibilities Operate CNC machines safely and efficiently to produce parts to specification. Set up CNC equipment, including tooling, fixtures, and workholding, to support production runs and changeovers. Edit and adjust CNC programs at the machine to improve quality, efficiency, and accuracy. Read and interpret blueprints to determine machining requirements, dimensions, and tolerances. Use common hand and power tools to perform machining, adjustments, and basic maintenance tasks. Perform changeovers between jobs, including setup adjustments and verification of correct tooling and programs. Troubleshoot machining issues such as dimensional inaccuracies, surface finish problems, and equipment alarms. Inspect parts during production to confirm they meet blueprint specifications and quality standards. Collaborate with team members and sister facilities to support consistent processes and problem resolution. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area in accordance with shop standards. Essential Skills Hands-on experience operating CNC machines in a production or job-shop environment. Ability to perform CNC machine setup, including tooling, offsets, and program selection. Proficiency in reading and interpreting mechanical blueprints and technical drawings. Experience editing CNC programs at the machine control to refine operations. Skilled in the use of common hand tools and power tools in a manufacturing setting. Ability to troubleshoot basic machining and equipment issues during production. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality parts. Ability to work a consistent first-shift schedule, Monday through Friday. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with changeovers and running multiple part numbers on CNC equipment. Familiarity with working across multiple facilities or departments to support production needs. Comfort working in a fabrication and machining environment with a variety of equipment. Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to improving machining processes. Effective communication skills for collaborating with peers, supervisors, and support staff. Why Work Here? Work Environment This position is based in a non-temperature-controlled manufacturing and fabrication environment that includes active CNC machinery and related equipment. You work on a first-shift schedule, Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., in a shop setting where safety practices, use of appropriate personal protective equipment, and adherence to production procedures are essential. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Louisville, KY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
