in Youngsville, LA is currently looking to add a production machinist to our team. We are a family owned local company with great benefits. This is a full time hourly non-exempt position and may be initially processed through a Temp Service on a Temp to Hire basis. 40 hours per week plus overtime as needed with possible weekend work. "Must be able to pass pre-employment screens" Drug Free Workplace
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILIES
Perform set up and operation of machinery (lathe and/or mill) in order to prepare metallic and non-metallic parts required in the production of products offered to MSM customers and other clients.
  • Review blueprints, drawings and specifications or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of part/product, sequence of operations and/or set up requirements
  • Measure, mark and otherwise indicate the dimensions and reference points on the part or material to be used as guides for subsequent machining
  • Select, align and secure the holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories and materials on machines to include mills, lathes and grinders
  • Calculate and set controls to regulate various machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow and depth and angle of cut
  • Start and observe machine operation to detect any malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, adjust as necessary
  • Verify conformance of finished part to ensure it meets specifications
  • Confer with production personnel, supervisors and/or others to resolve machining or assembly issues
  • Perform daily maintenance duties and/or notify supervisor of any equipment-related issues that may require attention
  • Maintain and clean and orderly work area
  • Responsible for performing dimensional inspections on in-process parts
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Vocation training preferred or two plus years of machining experience in a manufacturing setting.

PPE WORK ENVIRONMENT
This job operates in an environment where the employee may be exposed to wet or humid conditions , working around moving mechanical parts .
