CNC Machinist

Job Title:

Machinist Job Description Responsible for setting up jobs and running parts on a CNC Swiss lathe in the precision department. Tasks include setting up machines, running parts, and checking their quality using micrometers, calipers, optical comparators, and bore gages. You will work in a cell of 7 CNC lathes, managing 2-3 machines at a time, maintaining a tolerance of +/-.0005. Projects may involve long runs, ranging from 200 to thousands of parts. Responsibilities Set up and operate CNC Swiss lathes in the precision department. Ensure quality control of parts using micrometers, calipers, optical comparators, and bore gages. Collaborate with the 1st shift lead to receive daily job orders. Maintain machine operations independently after a 2-week training period. Essential Skills Ability to set up CNC lathe without assistance, preferably Swiss lathes. Proficiency in quality checking using micrometers, calipers, and bore gages. Capability to read blueprints to set up jobs. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with CNC Swiss lathe operations. Familiarity with Haas/Mill setups. Why Work Here? Work Environment Choose from two available shifts: C shift operates Friday through Sunday from 7 AM to 7 PM, providing 36 hours of work with pay for 40 hours if all shifts are completed. B shift runs Monday through Thursday from 4:30 PM to 3 AM, offering unlimited overtime. The facility is a clean, organized shop recently renovated, with a production and precision side. The plant is family-owned, running three shifts, creating a lively atmosphere. Be prepared for a warm environment in summer due to lack of AC, mitigated by large fans and open truck bay doors. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Benton Harbor, MI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $30.00/hr.
