Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Manual Machinist to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for setting up and operating traditional machine tools, such as lathes, milling machines, drill presses, and grinders, to build, modify, or repair precision parts. Unlike CNC operators, manual machinists rely on mechanical skill, blueprint reading, and hand calculations rather than programmed software to hold tight tolerances, often as close as \(\pm 0.0005\) inches. Your expertise will ensure that parts meet strict specifications and quality standards, contributing to the overall efficiency and success of our production processes. This position offers an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about craftsmanship, mechanical precision, and manufacturing excellence. Core Responsibilities
    Machine Operation :
Set up and operate manual engine lathes, Bridgeport mills, surface grinders, and horizontal boring mills.
      Blueprint Interpretation :
Read and interpret technical drawings, engineering blueprints, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) specifications.
        Workholding & Setup :
Select, align, and secure raw materials using chucks, vises, fixtures, and specialized rigging equipment.
          Process Calculation :
Calculate appropriate cutting tools, feeds, and speeds based on material type and part geometry.
            Quality Inspection :
Perform in-process and final inspections using precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and bore gauges.
              Maintenance & Troubleshooting :
Complete routine lubrication, minor repairs, and basic troubleshooting during production.
              Welding Skills :
Learn MIG and TIG welding techniques.
              Cross-Training :
Be willing to cross-train to support team flexibility and growth opportunities.
              • Maintain clear, consistent communication with the team across all projects. Job Requirements & Qualifications
              Experience :
3 to 5+ years of hands-on experience in a precision machine shop or repair environment is typically required.

High school diploma or GED required; a vocational certificate or completed apprenticeship is preferred.

Strong shop math skills, including geometry and trigonometry, and a solid understanding of metal properties.
                    Physical Stamina :
Ability to stand for 8 to 10 hours, lift up to 50 lbs., and perform precise, repetitive hand movements.
