Job Description

Position Summary We are seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to operate and maintain large-bed CNC milling machines for the production of precision components used in the aerospace and defense industries. The ideal candidate will have strong machining skills, the ability to interpret complex technical drawings, and experience working with tight tolerances and aerospace-grade materials. Key Responsibilities Operate and maintain large-bed and robotic CNC milling machines to manufacture high-precision aerospace and defense components. Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and CAD/CAM files to ensure accurate machining. Troubleshoot machine issues, setup problems, and production inefficiencies to minimize downtime. Conduct first-article inspections and in-process quality checks using precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and indicators. Work closely with engineering, quality, and production teams to resolve machining challenges involving complex geometries and specialized materials. Assist with developing, editing, and optimizing CNC programs (G-code or CAM software), especially for multi-axis machines. Follow aerospace manufacturing standards and maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment. Preferred Qualifications Minimum of 3 years of CNC machining experience in a precision manufacturing environment. Experience operating large-bed or robotic CNC milling machines preferred. Strong troubleshooting skills and mechanical aptitude. Proficiency in reading engineering drawings and applying GD&T principles. Familiarity with CNC control systems such as Fanuc , Siemens , and Haas Automation controls. Experience with CAM software is a plus. Knowledge of preventive maintenance and machine diagnostics. Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, quality-driven environment. Education & Certifications High school diploma or GED required. Completion of a CNC machining program, trade school, or apprenticeship preferred. Certifications such as National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS) or Haas Automation certification are a plus. Physical Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods (10+ hours per shift). Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, and manual dexterity required. Visual acuity to read technical drawings and precision measuring instruments. Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, steel-toe boots, and hearing protection.
