Job Description

Lathe CNC Machinist Quality Products is looking for a motivated, driven individual to join our team. The proper candidate must have high knowledge of precision set-ups and machining processes. As well as a strong understanding of GD&T and how to properly interpret blueprint, sets up parts, and operates computer-controlled lathes to produce precision metal or plastic parts, typically holding tolerances within .0005. Must select tooling, manage machine setups (jaws, tools), and perform quality inspections using micrometers and calipers. Preferably 3-5 years of experience. This role ensures production efficiency and safety.
Core Responsibilities Setup & Operation:
Configure 2 axis/live tooling CNC lathes, including loading raw materials, installing tools, and setting offsets (geometries and wear).
Programming:
Read and modify G-code or use conversational programming to optimize speeds, feeds, and tool paths.
Quality Control:
Inspect finished parts using precision instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges) to ensure compliance with blueprints and GD&T specifications.
Maintenance:
Perform routine maintenance (lubrication, coolant levels) and troubleshoot malfunctions.
Safety & Organization:
Adhere to safety protocols (PPE, Steel toe shoes, and safety glasses) and maintain a clean, organized workstation. Key Skills & Requirements •

Fluency in G-code and familiarity with (CAM/CAD software is a plus) •
Mathematical Skills :
Ability to apply concepts of algebra, geometry, and trigonometry for calculating dimensions. • Attention to
Detail :
Critical for maintaining precise measurements and identifying defects early. •
Physical Demands :
Often requires standing for prolonged periods and the ability to lift to 50 lbs. •
Education:
A high school diploma or equivalent is the standard minimum; however, technical degrees or formal apprenticeships are preferred Work Environment Manufacturing machine shops, which may involve working around moving parts and noise. Often involves working specific shifts, including nights, weekends, or overtime to meet production goals. Strict adherence to safety procedures (PPE) is mandatory.
