, you will perform machining work to manufacture castings, forgings, weldments, and other fabricions; plan and lay out work from blueprints, sketches, drawings, part models, and other specificions and instructions; receive work orders th indice wh work is to be done and plans work accordingly; lay out work by measuring and marking straight lines, arcs, circles, angles, and locion points as guides for setting up work pieces for drilling, tapping, turning, milling, boring, reaming, shaping, grinding, honing, and lapping, using a variety of measuring and marking tools, including rules, vernier calipers, inside, outside, and depth micrometers, dial indicors, surface gauges, height gauges, squares, protractors, dividers, and scribers; use trade mhemics and standard handbook formulas in making computions to establish dimensions not provided in verbal instructions or written specificions; set up and operes most types of conventional and/or Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machine tools such as lhes; vertical and horizontal boring mills; bench, plane, or universal milling machines; shapers and planers; internal and external grinders, thread grinders; and radial drills; grind and sharpen tools, and selects tools, jigs, and fixtures required to achieve specific dimensions, tolerances, and surface finishes; set up work in vises and between centers, uses chucks, standard faceples, angle ple mountings, and collets; perform precision handwork to finish, fit, and assemble machined parts; use various bench-mounted and handheld powered and non-powered tools such as files, drills, reamers, and buffers. Enlisted (E4-E7) Minimum Requirements:
Experience or training th has provided the candide with a basic knowledge of machining processes. Must have the ability to use drill presses, shapers, planers and other types of associed machine tools. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE
: (18 months) Experience or training performing the full range of machining operions on most types of conventional or CNC machine tools and their various tachments. Experience or training in planning and lay out work from blueprints, worksheets and other drawings th may have missing or incorrect informion. Skill in applying shop mhemics in establishing needed dimensions, such as those required for chasing threads or machining angular surfaces; locing and marking surfaces and angles to be machined. Skill in programming machining operions, setting up and opering CNC machine tools. Knowledge of and ability to apply advanced shop mhemics such as geometric and trigonometric formulas to make compution for laying out work, machining pieces unusual or compound angles, determining gear rios pitch, angles and other similar exact or precision dimension.
