Full Job Description Description:
IKA is where people turn visions into reality. When IKA's corporate history began in 1910, China had not yet become a People's Republic, and the term "globalization" had not yet been coined. Today, the IKA Group employs more than 900 people at multiple locations around the world and proudly serves customers such as BASF, Bayer, and Procter & Gamble. IKA is a global market leader in many of its product groups and a recognized example of innovation, development, and growth.
As our slogan states:
"IKA - Designed to work perfectly." IKA is seeking a Machinist with CNC lathe experience to join our team. In this role, the individual will be responsible for programming, setup, deburring, maintenance, and machining of work orders within their assigned work center. The primary equipment operated will be a two-axis lathe with a C-axis brake. This is not a high-volume production position. Typical order quantities are fewer than five pieces, requiring frequent setups and changeovers. The ideal candidate will be highly skilled, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a dynamic environment with a variety of short-run, precision machining work.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Perform machining and inspection of process and laboratory components and fixtures. Ensure accuracy, efficiency, and quality throughout the machining process. Program, set up, and operate CNC machines, maintaining proper documentation for all work performed. Follow established procedures for machining process components and ensure compliance with all safety standards. Maintain safe, proper setup and operation of all tools and equipment. Keep machinery, tooling, and accessories clean, organized, and in safe working condition. Perform routine machine maintenance, including monitoring lubricant/coolant levels, chuck condition, and tooling. Support a philosophy of continuous improvement in all aspects of work. Assist assembly teams with troubleshooting and repairing machine components as needed. Monitor raw material inventory levels and communicate needs as appropriate. Accurately complete time tickets, inspection reports, material certification records, and other required documentation. Train and support coworkers as needed to ensure team success.
Requirements:
Must be able to independently program, set up, machine, and deburr parts within assigned work center. Ability to program CNC machines using CAM software. 3+ years of experience operating two-axis CNC lathes. Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Computer proficient. Flexible and adaptable to changing work assignments and duties. Basic understanding of metrology and ability to perform in-process quality checks. Team-oriented mindset with willingness to support coworkers and share knowledge and processes.
