Job Description
Description Join a team of professionals where you will be responsible for the operation, set-up and utilization of live tooling lathe machines as well as the other support processes used in the prototyping and production of machined products. We offer a 15% shift differential when working on 2nd shift. Come Build with
Us:
Provide or oversee training of level I and II machinists regarding machine operation, machining techniques, and manufacturing processes. Advise and consult with other machinists and programmers regarding difficult projects, problem solving, and problem avoidance. Perform set-up and operation of live tooling lathe machines. Inspect finish tools. Diagnose, troubleshoot and solve machine problems. Perform daily maintenance on machines. Use CAD/CAM to optimize programs for maximum efficiency. Perform prototype support for complex machining programs generated by programmers. Ensure proper use of programs and tools during prototyping and production. Give prompt recognition of program defects or shortcomings to project managers. Provide support for live tooling operations. Advise and consult with product development engineers, programmers and/or tooling department for cutting tools and tooling needed to complete projects. Design, build and maintain fixtures, tooling and set-ups for use in specified projects as assigned by the product development engineer or supervisor. Inspect and document all operations as stated in Quality Manual and based on requirements of the product development engineer. Support and maintain overall shop efficiency by keeping work areas clean and safe. Report all hazards or incidents to supervisor. Cooperate and coordinate with other machinists for usage of shared shop equipment. Perform other duties as necessary.Bring Your Expertise:
High school diploma or GED equivalent, approved apprenticeship program or Associates Degree in machining preferred. 5 or more years' experience as a CNC Lathe Machinist, 3 years of which must include set-up and programming. Proficient in trigonometry. Ability to use advanced program editing tools in CAD/CAM. Working knowledge ofMicrosoft Office Suite:
Outlook, Word, Excel and ERP software preferred (Epicor helpful). Advanced knowledge of GD&T andANSI Y 14.5.
Thorough understanding of blue prints and extensive experience using metrology tools. Ability to interpret and act on SPC data. Basic understanding of how different metals affect the choice of cutting tools, and speeds and feeds. Must have strong interpersonal communication skills and leadership qualities. Requires lifting and carrying of up to 30 lbs. or more and standing for extended periods of time. Our Culture inAction:
