This position involves complex setups, multi axis machining, first piece inspection, and production of tight tolerance components for highly regulated industries. The ideal candidate brings strong hands on machining experience, a high level of independence, and the ability to work closely with cross functional teams to meet production, quality, and delivery goals. Key Responsibilities Independently set up, program, and operate CNC milling machines and horizontal boring mills Perform advanced multi axis machining on complex and precision components Review blueprints, process documentation, and GD&T requirements to determine proper setup and machining sequence Machine a variety of materials while maintaining quality, repeatability, and efficiency Complete first piece, in process, and final dimensional verification using precision inspection tools Document inspection results and maintain accurate production records Partner with planning, engineering, and quality teams to execute work in line with production priorities and schedules Troubleshoot machining issues, adjust offsets, and maintain stable processes throughout production runs Identify and support continuous improvement efforts related to cycle times, setup reduction, and quality performance Mentor less experienced machinists on setups, measurement techniques, machining strategy, and best practices Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area in support of shop safety and 5S standards Qualifications 5 or more years of CNC milling experience, including machine setup and programming Strong experience with vertical mills, horizontal mills, and or horizontal boring mills Proficiency with common CNC controls such as Fanuc, Heidenhain, Mazatrol, or Siemens Strong understanding of blueprint reading, GD&T, and machining process optimization Experience producing large, complex, or tight tolerance components Ability to troubleshoot machining and setup issues independently Strong inspection and measurement skills using standard precision tools Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with operations, quality, and engineering teams Commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement Preferred Background Experience in high precision manufacturing environments Experience with multi axis machining and complex part geometries Ability to support and train junior level machinists
