Manual Machinist

SCOPE OF POSITION

This position is responsible for:

• Perform precision machining using manual mills, lathes, grinders, and honing equipment
• Work from engineering drawings to meet tight tolerances and surface finish requirements
• Ensure product quality, equipment care, and workplace safety
• Complying with all corporate policies, rules, and regulations
• Produce small production runs and tooling/fixturing

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following: other duties may be assigned.

• Set up and operate manual milling machines, lathes, surface and cylindrical grinders, and honing equipment to produce small production runs and tooling/fixturing
• Perform manual honing of ceramic components to achieve required bore size, geometry, and surface finish
• Machine parts to print, maintaining tight tolerances and surface finishes
• Use diamond or appropriate tooling for ceramic machining
• Finish machining/grinding of ceramic and thermal sprayed coated metals to specification
• Finish-grind thermal sprayed coatings to specified thickness
• Hand polish and assembly ceramic assemblies
• Read and interpret blueprints and GD&T
• Inspect parts using precision measuring instruments (micrometers, dial indicators, bore gauges, height gauges, surface finish testers)
• Document inspection results and maintain quality records
• Perform basic machine maintenance and follow safety procedures

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

• 3+ years of manual machining experience
• Pleasant and professional attitude
• Organized mindset
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Excessive standing
• Experience with ceramics and/or thermal sprayed coatings preferred
• Ability to hold tight tolerances and maintain surface finish requirements
• Proficient in blueprint reading and precision measurement tools
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills

EDUCATION

• High school diploma or equivalent required (GED)
• Technical training, apprenticeship, or machinist certification preferred

Pay:

$25.00 - $30.00 per hour
