CNC Full Job Description Shift:
1st 7:30 AM - 5:00 PM | 45HR / WK Magic City Machine is a small-scale locally owned and operated machine shop in Barberton, Ohio. We specialize in machining custom jobs. We pride ourselves on quality craftsmanship, and local partnerships. We are looking for a skilled and motivated individual to join our small team of skilled, dedicated professionals.
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented CNC Mill Operator to set up, operate, and maintain Computer Numerical Control (CNC) milling machines. The ideal candidate will be responsible for producing precision parts according to engineering drawings and specifications while ensuring quality standards and safety protocols are met. This role requires proficiency in operating CNC mills, interpreting technical drawings, and using precision measuring instruments.
Key Responsibilities:
Set up and operate CNC milling machines for various jobs. Load and unload parts, tools, and fixtures onto machines. Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, schematics, and work orders to determine machining requirements. Select appropriate tooling, speeds, and feeds for various materials and operations. Load CNC programs and perform necessary offsets and adjustments to ensure parts meet specifications. Monitor machine operations, detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjust controls as needed. Perform in-process quality inspections using precision measuring instruments (e.g., calipers, micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges). Maintain accurate production records and documentation. Perform routine machine maintenance, including cleaning, lubrication, and coolant management. Troubleshoot minor machining issues and report complex problems to supervisors or maintenance personnel. Adhere strictly to all safety regulations, company policies, and quality procedures. Maintain a clean and organized work area (5S principles).
Required Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience setting up and operating CNC Mills in a manufacturing environment. Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical blueprints and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T). Skilled in using various precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, indicators, etc.). Strong understanding of machining processes, tooling, and materials (e.g., steel, aluminum, plastics). Basic understanding of G-code and M-code; ability to perform minor edits or offsets at the controller. Experience with Fanuc controllers is highly desirable. Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills. Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work. Commitment to workplace safety.
Preferred Qualifications:
Vocational/technical degree or apprenticeship in Machining or related field. Experience with multi-axis machining (2 or 3-axis mills).
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
Ability to stand for extended periods. Ability to lift and move materials up to 50 pounds. Requires manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination. Work environment involves exposure to noise, coolants, oils, and metal shavings typical of a machine shop. Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), such as safety glasses and steel-toed boots.
Compensation & Benefits:
