This role offers an exciting opportunity for individuals with a passion for mechanical work, technical troubleshooting, and hands-on problem solving. As an Outside Machinist, you will be instrumental in ensuring equipment operates efficiently and safely, supporting our commitment to excellence and reliability. Your expertise will help keep operations running smoothly while providing exceptional service to our clients and internal teams. Duties Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on large machinery using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments such as calipers and ohmmeters. Ability and Knowledge of Rigging Parts and structures. Read and interpret schematics, mechanical drawings, electrical diagrams, and fabrication plans to accurately execute repairs and modifications. Conduct heavy lifting and rigging operations safely to install or replace equipment components in outdoor environments. Fabricate parts or modify existing components using welding, sheet metal work, soldering, and other fabrication techniques to meet specific project requirements. Utilize vehicle maintenance skills to service service trucks or mobile equipment used on-site or in transit. Apply electrical experience to troubleshoot and repair electrical systems within machinery, ensuring compliance with safety standards. Collaborate with team members to assemble machinery parts, perform calibration checks with precision tools, and ensure all work meets quality standards. Maintain detailed records of repairs, maintenance activities, schematics updates, and safety inspections for accountability and continuous improvement. Experience Proven service technician experience working with heavy machinery or industrial equipment in outdoor or field settings. Strong mechanical knowledge complemented by hands-on experience with rigging, fabrication, welding, sheet metal work, soldering, and the use of hand tools and power tools. Familiarity with schematics, electrical systems, and troubleshooting using diagnostic tools such as ohmmeters or multimeters. Experience working in military environments or with military-grade equipment is a plus due to the technical rigor required. Knowledge of vehicle maintenance procedures for trucks or mobile units used in operational settings. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while adhering to safety protocols for outdoor work environments. Excellent customer service skills combined with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients or team members.
