Job Description

If you enjoy a dynamic, growing, challenging workplace- DRT is just what you are looking for. We are currently seeking candidates for a 1st Shift CNC Machinist. Position Summary The CNC Machinist is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC mills, lathes, and/or multi-axis machining centers to produce complex aerospace components in accordance with engineering drawings, quality requirements, and production schedules. This role is expected to demonstrate strong technical proficiency, perform in-process inspections, make tool and program offsets, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the machine shop. Key Responsibilities Machining & Production Set up and operate CNC equipment (mills, lathes, 3/4/5-axis machines) to produce precision aerospace parts. Read and interpret complex engineering drawings, GD&T, work instructions, and process routers. Select appropriate tooling, fixtures, and materials as required for each job. Perform machine offsets, tool adjustments, and minor program edits to maintain dimensional accuracy. Run first-piece inspections and obtain proper approvals before releasing jobs for production. Maintain production documentation, including job routers, machine logs, and non-conformance reports. Quality & Inspection Conduct in-process inspections using micrometers, calipers, height gauges, bore gauges, etc. Ensure all manufactured parts meet tight aerospace tolerances and
NADCAP/AS9100
requirements. Identify potential non-conformances, escalate issues, and participate in root-cause analysis when needed. Safety, Maintenance & Shop Support Follow all safety protocols, including machine guarding, PPE requirements, and safe material handling.
Perform routine machine maintenance:
lubrication, coolant monitoring, chip removal, etc. Maintain clean, organized work area in compliance with 5S and continuous improvement initiatives. Qualifications Education & Experience High school diploma or GED required; trade school or machining certificate preferred. 3-5 years of CNC machining experience , ideally in an aerospace or precision manufacturing environment. Experience with multi-axis CNC machines and strong understanding of G-code. Technical Skills Proficient in blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation . Strong understanding of machining processes, speeds/feeds, and material behavior (aluminum, titanium, stainless steels). Ability to perform machine setups with minimal supervision. Familiarity with
AS9100, NADCAP
processes, and aerospace compliance standards. Basic to intermediate CNC program editing skills (Fanuc, Haas, Okuma). Water Jet experience is preferred. Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Stand for extended periods and work in a shop environment with noise and coolant exposure. Perform repetitive tasks involving hand/arm movements.
