Hourly Non-Exempt Position Description Machinist (Manual) is responsible for machining parts with various manual machines. Reviews quality of parts as produced, reports any discrepancies to lead. Responsible for operating machines to produce parts using precision measuring devices, reading blue prints / drawings. Position Responsibilities- Essential Ability to work independent Responsible for operations of horizontal and vertical milling machines, lathes, and radial manual machines, drill taps, key seater, band saws in order to produce parts. Responsible for performing quality checks being produced to ensure quality Ability to use precision measuring devices, read and understand all blue prints / drawings Knowledge and operational understanding of all machine shop machinery Ability layout work to be performed Ability to work within a team environment Follow all safety rules and regulations Ability to operate an overhead crane and / or forklift Housekeeping in area Essential Skills and Experience •Ability to set up and operate multiple machines - horizontal and vertical milling machines Capable of performing pattern and hole layouts for structural steel and/or fabricated parts. Crane and forklift operations required. Beneficial Skills and Experience High School diploma or equivalent recommended, Machine Tool Technology degree a plus 3 - 5 years experience working in a machine shop, using various machining types of manual machines. A good understanding of all manual type equipment.
