Job Description:
This position is for an outstanding CNC Machinist or CNC Grinder (Drake Experience Preferred). The successful candidate will be responsible for basic set up and operation of the multi-axis numerical control machine, as well as inspection of machined parts.Job Requirements and Qualifications:
Skills Ability to hold tolerances of .0002 / .0001. Ability to set up and operate numerical-control machines utilizing live tooling to machine surfaces of metallic and nonmetallic work pieces according to specifications and tooling instructions by applying knowledge of machining methods. Ability to study and understand sample parts, drawings, shop routers, and engineering information to determine methods and sequences of operations needed to machine products and determine dimensions and tolerances. Ability to position, secure, and align holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials into machines. Ability to adjust and calculate machine speed, depths, and feed ratios. Ability to change cutting tools and adjust machine controls to ensure specified timing, clearances, and tolerances. Ability to check and edit existing programs (CNC machines at Thomas Instrument use either Fanuc or Mitsubishi controls). Ability to assemble and preset tooling for next operation during automated cycle to reduce machine downtime. Ability to observe machine during operation in order to detect problems. Ability to measure dimensions of finished work pieces to ensure conformance to specifications. Ability to use micrometers, calipers, electronic height gages, and dial inspectors. Knowledge Knowledge of CNC machining and production of aerospace tools and parts. High school diploma or GED. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings. Working knowledge of and understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T). Understanding of and ability to enter commands into control panel to retrieve pre-programmed machine data from central database location Working knowledge of and ability to provide technical expertise and feedback to manufacturing engineers. Experience 5+ years experience in CNC machining. Experience with adaptive problem solving approach and implementing solutions.
