Holding an incredibly vital role in our production line, you will be responsible for setting up and operating high-precision CNC lathes equipped with sub-spindles and live tooling . The ideal candidate brings 5 or more years of hands-on experience, a mastery of multi-axis lathe operations, and a strong commitment to quality and documentation. Core Duties and Responsibilities Complex Machine Setup:
Independently set up and program/edit multi-axis CNC lathes featuring sub-spindles and live tooling.
Production Operations:
Run production cycles efficiently on our fleet of premium machine tools, including HAAS, Mori Seiki, and Okuma .
Quality Assurance:
Perform first-article and in-process inspections using precision measuring instruments, and accurately complete all inspection reports.
Compliance & Traceability:
Maintain strict lot control and meticulously follow established AS9100 quality management procedures to ensure parts are fully traceable.
Troubleshooting:
Diagnose and resolve machining, tooling, and program issues dynamically to minimize downtime and prevent scrap.
Shop Upkeep:
Keep your workstation, machines, and tools clean, organized, and properly maintained (5S principles).
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Work closely with our welding and assembly teams to ensure seamless part handoffs and minimize downstream production issues.
Qualifications and RequirementsTechnical Skills & Experience Experience:
5+ years of dedicated experience setting up and operating CNC Lathes in a precision machining environment.
Advanced Tooling Mastery:
Proven proficiency with sub-spindle and live tooling lathe configurations is required.
Machine Familiarity:
Hands-on experience working with HAAS, Mori, and/or Okuma controls and machine tools.
Blueprint & G-Code Reading:
Ability to read, interpret, and work directly from complex engineering drawings, blueprints, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T). Proficient in reading and editing G-code at the machine controller.
Metrology:
Skilled in using standard precision inspection tools (micrometers, calipers, bore gages, depth gages).
Compliance & Quality Requirements Quality Standards:
Previous experience working within an AS9100 or
ISO 9001
quality system is highly preferred.
Traceability:
High attention to detail regarding lot traceability, routing sheets, and part tracking.
Soft Skills & Physical Demands Problem-Solving:
Strong mechanical aptitude and critical thinking skills to diagnose tool wear, adjust offsets, and troubleshoot setups.
Work Ethic:
Reliable, self-motivated, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high production throughput.
Physical Capability:
