Job Description

Job Title:
CNC Mill Machinist Job Description Join a busy production machine shop as a CNC Mill Machinist where you will set up, program, and operate CNC mills to produce precision metal parts. You will work with jigs and fixtures, automate processes where possible, and create production-ready parts using Okuma controls and G & M codes. This role is ideal for a hands-on machinist who enjoys precision work, light programming at the machine, and contributing to a growing organization. Responsibilities Set up and operate CNC mill machine tools to produce precision metal parts to specification. Use measuring instruments and precision tools to verify dimensions and ensure parts meet quality standards. Interpret and work from engineering drawings, blueprints, and other written instructions to manufacture metal components. Create and edit simple programs directly at the machine using Okuma controls and G & M codes. Select, install, and adjust jigs, fixtures, tooling, and work-holding devices to support efficient, repeatable production. Perform light programming and code edits to optimize machining processes and improve part quality. Use manual machines as needed to support production, secondary operations, or one-off work. Work with 3- and 4-axis CNC mills to produce a variety of parts and assemblies. Inspect finished parts and make necessary adjustments to maintain tight tolerances and high-quality output. Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow all safety procedures in a busy machine shop environment. Demonstrate reliable attendance, a proactive attitude, and a willingness to take initiative in daily work. Essential Skills At least 3-5 years of hands-on CNC mill machining experience. Proven ability to perform full CNC mill setups; experience as a machinist rather than only an operator. Working knowledge of Okuma controls with the ability to create and modify simple programs at the machine. Strong understanding and practical use of G & M codes. Experience working with 3- and 4-axis CNC mills. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and written work instructions. Skilled in using measuring instruments and precision tools to check and verify part dimensions. Ability to perform light programming and code edits at the machine to improve processes. Good attendance record and a proactive, "go-getter" mentality. Comfort working in a high-activity machine shop environment with varying temperatures and noise levels. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with jigs, fixtures, and automating machining processes is highly beneficial. Manual machining experience is a plus. Lathe experience is preferred and adds versatility to the role. Ownership of personal tools is a plus. Experience working with G & M codes, blueprints, and manual machines. Ability to collaborate with team members to improve part quality and production efficiency. Why Work Here? You will join a growing organization that invests in its people through strong benefits, advancement opportunities, and consistent recognition. The company offers medical, dental, and vision coverage, a 401(k) plan, and generous paid time off starting with 2 weeks in the first year and increasing to 4 weeks after one year. Annual raises reward strong performance, and there is ample room for growth within the shop for those who bring a strong work ethic and a desire to develop their skills. The facility operates CNC mills and manual machines in an environment that can be loud, dirty, and noisy, with temperatures that may be cold in the winter and hot in the summer. You will work on a day shift schedule from approximately 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., using industrial machining equipment, measuring instruments, and precision tools throughout the day.
