This position will be responsible for setting up and adjusting machine tools, (milling machines, boring machines, drills, and CNC machines) for other workers in the Machining department. The ideal candidate will have past experience in machinist operations and have the ability to interpret blueprints or job orders and adjust machines accordingly.
Key Responsibilities:
Set up and operate CNC Mills and CNC 4th axis Mills to produce high-precision parts. Run multiple machines (1-4) simultaneously while maintaining tight tolerances and production efficiency. Interpret blueprints and work instructions to ensure accurate machining and quality standards. Select, install, and align tooling, fixtures, and materials for optimal machining performance. Adjust machine offsets and controls to correct deviations and maintain tolerances. Perform in-process inspections and final quality checks using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges. Complete First Article Inspections and document results per
ISO 9001
standards. Troubleshoot machining issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions. Document scrap, machine downtime, and production activity accurately. Perform routine preventative maintenance, including cleaning machines and monitoring fluid levels. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in alignment with company safety programs and P5S initiatives. Communicate effectively with team members and across shifts to ensure smooth operations. Assist in training or mentoring less experienced machinists as needed. Perform other duties as assigned.
Additional Skills and Abilities:
This position requires exceptional critical thinking, time management and communication skills. (Required) Experience fixturing and machining castings. (Preferred) Interpret G Code. (Preferred) Mastercam experience is a plus.
Qualifications:
2+ years of CNC machining experience, including setup and operation. Strong understanding of blueprint reading. Ability to use precision measuring tools and perform detailed inspections. Strong math skills, including decimals and fractions. Ability to lift up to 30 lbs regularly (up to 50+ lbs occasionally) and stand or walk for extended periods. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment. Educational Requirements:
One year certificate from college or technical school; or Three to six months related experience and/or training Equivalent combination of education and experience.
