Summary:
A Machinist operates a variety of machines, including milling machines, grinders, and lathes, to produce precision metal parts. Responsibilities include reviewing prints, calculating where to cut, determining speeds, and planning the sequence of operations. Machinists must also be able to detect problems through sound and vibration.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Ability to work to production schedule and due dates Set up and operate a variety of machines safely and efficiently Ability to hold tight tolerances (+•.002) Intermediate print reading Understand and calculate feeds and speeds Make routine decisions affecting the functional area of responsibility Participates in Continuous Improvement efforts Maintains safe and clean work environment Other duties as assigned

  • Proficiency in operating: Basic Manual Mill Basic Manual Lathe Basic CNC Mill Basic CNC Lathe Straddle Mill Corrugation Mill Proficient in operating radical drills Skilled in performing layout and mold layout work Familiar with basic heat treat functions Able to read and interpret tape measures with accuracy up to 1/16 of an inch Proficient in using broach and keyseater machines Capable of reading and accurately using various gauges Competent in cleaning, deburring, and hand grinding parts Proficient in basic inspection department procedures Demonstrates safe operation of cranes, including proper use of chains, slings, and magnets for rigging, as well as forklift operation when required Abilities•Ability to foster and work within a team environment Actively participates in safety programs and complies with all Columbia safety policies Ability to follow written and verbal instructions Ability to simultaneously work on multiple projects at one time Maintain a clean and safe work environment Displays attention to detail and consistently follows Standard Work Instructions (when available) when completing tasks Demonstrates the qualities of a "Team Player" by accepting new responsibilities and filling in for other employees when needed Self-motivated and has the ability to work with supervision Communicates well with peers, supervisor, customers, vendors, and other departments Actively participates in 6S and other Continuous Improvement (CI) efforts Education and/or
Experience:
