About KLH:
KLH Industries is a precision machining company built around technology, automation, and quality. Our specialty is medium-to-high complexity parts at low-to-medium volumes (50-5,000 EAU). With multiple automated multi-axis CNC machines, we engineer repeatable results for the aerospace, defense, and firearms sectors. We earn repeat business by knowing the smartest way to make complex parts and backing it up with consistent quality.
What You'll Do:
As a CNC Lathe Setup Machinist, you'll be responsible for preparing complex jobs for production on multi-axis CNC turning and mill/turn equipment. This includes building setups, verifying tooling and workholding, and ensuring the machining process runs reliably and efficiently. Many of our jobs involve tight tolerances, complex geometries, live tooling, secondary spindle work, and multi-axis machining. This role is a strong fit for machinists who enjoy challenging setups, process optimization, and problem-solving. This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in building clean, repeatable setups and solving machining challenges. You'll work closely with programmers and other machinists to bring new jobs online and keep production moving.
Key Responsibilities:
Set up and operate CNC lathes and mill/turn machines for complex precision parts Install and verify tooling, workholding, and machine accessories for new jobs Prove out programs and troubleshoot machining issues during setup Read and interpret blueprints and GD&T to verify setups meet part requirements Make offsets and adjustments to maintain dimensional accuracy Inspect first pieces and verify conformance before releasing jobs to production Collaborate with programmers and supervisors to improve machining processes Maintain organized setups and prepare machines for the next job Support reliable unattended or lights-out machining when applicable
What We're Looking For:
4+ years of CNC machining experience with significant setup responsibilities Strong CNC turning background with experience independently setting up lathes Mill/turn experience strongly preferred Experience with live tooling, sub-spindles, Y-axis machining, or multi-channel machines preferred Strong ability to read blueprints and understand GD&T Experience troubleshooting machining processes and resolving issues independently Familiarity with precision inspection tools (micrometers, bore gauges, indicators, etc.) Strong attention to detail and sense of ownership for quality and efficiency Meet the definition of a U.S. Person, as defined by the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) Nice to
Have:
Experience with multi-axis DMG Mori, Mori Seiki, or similar turning platforms Exposure to lights-out automation or robotic part handling Experience with bar feeders or automated material handling systems Experience with in-process probing or tool monitoring systems Experience with complex fixturing or hydraulic/pneumatic workholding Why Join Us?
