Position Overview We're looking for a detail-oriented Lathe Machinist to produce precision metal components using manual and CNC lathes. Whether you're an experienced CNC operator or a strong manual machinist ready to advance, we'll invest in your growth. You'll work alongside a dedicated team in a clean, organized environment where quality and craftsmanship matter every day. Key Responsibilities Set up and operate manual and CNC lathes for turning, boring, threading, facing, and grooving operations Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work orders accurately Use precision measuring instruments — micrometers, calipers, gauges — to verify parts meet tight tolerances Perform first-article inspection and in-process quality checks throughout production runs Execute preventative maintenance and basic troubleshooting to minimize machine downtime Collaborate with fellow machinists and production leads to hit deadlines and solve challenges Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workstation at all times Train on and operate Mazak CNC lathe systems with company-provided instruction Qualifications Required High school diploma or GED Ability to read blueprints and use precision measuring instruments Mechanically inclined with strong attention to detail Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and standing for extended periods Willingness to learn and grow — this is a team that invests in people who invest in themselves Preferred 2+ years of experience operating manual or CNC lathes in a manufacturing environment Machinist training, vocational certification, or apprenticeship program completion Familiarity with Mazak CNC equipment or similar turning centers Experience with G-code or basic CNC programming What Makes This Role Stand Out Peterson's is not a revolving-door employer.
