Job Description

  • Job Title:
    CNC Machinist
  • Job Description
  • This role involves setting up and operating CNC turning centers and vertical mills, performing manual machining operations, and ensuring that all parts meet precise quality standards. You will work with modernized equipment in a smaller, growing shop, using your technical expertise to support production while maintaining a safe and organized work area.
  • Responsibilities
  • + Set up and operate CNC turning centers and CNC vertical mills for production runs.
+ Operate manual mills and lathes to perform secondary machining operations and complete parts to specification. + Monitor machining processes closely to ensure parts meet dimensional and quality requirements throughout production. + Inspect finished parts using precision measuring tools to verify adherence to blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications. + Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications to determine machining methods, sequences, and tooling requirements. + Perform changeovers and adjust machine settings or programs as needed to maintain accuracy and efficiency. + Troubleshoot machining issues, including dimensional deviations, surface finish problems, or machine-related errors, and take corrective action. + Maintain machines through daily cleaning, routine upkeep, and basic preventive maintenance tasks. + Follow and enforce all safety protocols, shop rules, and standard operating procedures at all times. + Collaborate with other team members in the shop to ensure smooth workflow and timely completion of jobs. + Perform additional duties as assigned within the machining department to support overall production needs.
  • Essential Skills
  • + At least 3+ years of experience as a machinist, including operating and programming CNC equipment.
+ Hands-on experience setting up and operating CNC lathes and CNC mills, including Mazak mills. + Proficiency with G-code and M-code for CNC programming and machine operation. + Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications accurately. + Experience operating manual mills and lathes for secondary machining and finishing operations. + Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of machining processes and methods. + Proficiency using precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and related inspection instruments. + Ability to perform machine changeovers efficiently and accurately. + Troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve machining and equipment issues. + Ability to lift up to 25 lbs as part of routine machining and material handling tasks.

  • + Experience working primarily on the shop floor in a hands-on machining environment.
+ Comfort working with modernized CNC equipment and updated shop processes. + Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality parts. + Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and standard operating procedures. + Willingness to perform routine machine cleaning and upkeep to support equipment reliability. + Strong teamwork and communication skills to collaborate effectively with other machinists and shop personnel.

You will work with CNC turning centers, CNC vertical mills, and manual mills and lathes, along with precision measuring tools such as micrometers and calipers. The shop focuses on producing thermal spray and coating systems for applications in medical, automotive, and food-related industries. The work involves standing for extended periods, handling parts and materials up to 25 lbs, and performing routine machine cleaning and maintenance. Safety protocols and shop guidelines are strictly followed, and the environment emphasizes cleanliness, organization, and consistent adherence to machining standards.

  • The pay range for this position is $58240.
00 - $70720.00/yr.
