About the position:

Under direct Supervision, performs short cycle packaging operations.

Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsible for operation of the Bartelt /HMC style packaging equipment-line. Responsible for running and maintaining packaging equipment; including labelers, scales, conveyors, coders and other related packaging. Operate machinery safely and efficiently in relation to material usage documentation, product waste, sealing, coding, and weight control. Ensure compliance with Production/Packaging procedures and practices. Inspect all areas within the line/equipment for any operational and/or mechanical issues monitoring for problems such as jams or leaking seals. Take corrective action when necessary and notify supervisor and/or management. Takes responsibility for reporting any and all safety incidents. Review and reporting of production activities. Requests packaging material (foil, poly, cartons) from storage as needed. Return all unopened materials to warehouse clean and ready for use. Attach identification/product information labels to finished packaged items. Stock (stage) and sort product for packaging or filling machine operation and replenish packaging supplies such as boxes, labels and production supplies such as dry rolls and solution totes. Inspect and remove defective products and packaging material. Assist in performing preventative maintenance to machine as scheduled. Perform other requirements as required by management.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent G.E.D. required.
• Must have basic math skills.
• At least six (6)-months machine operator experience in a manufacturing setting.
• Must be bilingual (English/Spanish).
• Ability to assess equipment and demonstrate basic mechanical knowledge.
• Ability to follow both verbal and written instructions.
• Able to multi-task, work in a fast-paced environment and function well as part of a team.
• Lifting loads up to 50 pounds is required.

Forklift driving experience is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

The chosen individual must be able to meet the physical demands of the job including climbing ladders, bending, stooping, and standing for long periods of time. In addition, individuals must be able to reach above shoulders and lift a minimum of 50 pounds.

Other Details about the position:

• This is a 2nd shift position working Monday-Friday, from 2:15 p.m. through 11:00 p.m.
• Work schedule is subject to change according to the needs of the company and/or department.
• Overtime is required when scheduled.
