Position Title:
Youth Reports to: Log Yard Supervisor

Hiring Preference:
Will be given to applicants that previously worked during summer that had a favorable review & are a current employee's child.•Hours per shift: Employee works 8-hour shifts with a 30 minute paid lunch and two 10 minute breaks
Wage:
Level 1 for age 14-17 // Level 1 or 2 for age 18+ who perform a job inside the mill.
Position Purpose:
This position requires the Youth to serve in the following positions, as directed by their supervisor for production and cross-training purposes. Age 14-15: Clerical Work or Data Entry Only. Age 16-17: Basic Yard Maintenance, Painting, and Clean-Up. Age 18+: Will work in the mill in various positions such as; Dryer Feeder, Dryer Grader, Sheet Station Operator, Log Yard Taper, Polyline Operator, Bander Operator.
Job Description Examples:
Dryer Feeder:
will keep the veneer dryer at least 97% full of quality veneer while maintaining safety and quality by feeding sheets into the dryer. The worker will feed while moving back and forth on a platform in front of different sized stacks of green veneer. Feeder will keep up with the pace of the dryer, while maintaining safety and quality standards as outlined in the Job Hazard Analysis, Standard Operating Procedures, and other requirements as directed by the supervisor for the safe and efficient operation of the plant.
Bander Operator:
Band finished plywood loads and make sure the unit labeling is correct.
Polyline Operator:
The primary purpose of a polyline operator is to patch panels coming from the presses by using putty and epoxy to upgrade the finish quality of plywood sheets. Use a putty knife and poly gun to spread putty/epoxy on panel surfaces. Use router to remove all defects as outlined by APA standards. Work with co-workers in a continuous cycle while maintaining the flow of panels through the patch line. •
