Metal Finishing Plater, 2nd Shift Confidential Pomona, CA Job Details Full-time $16.90 - $22.00 an hour 1 day ago Qualifications Chemical handling safety procedures Forklift Personal protective equipment (PPE) adherence Shop math High school diploma or GED Manufacturing standard operating procedures Manufacturing facility Safety equipment Industrial equipment Industrial chemical handling Chemical safety protocols Load & unload Respirator Full Job Description Second Shift (Afternoon/Evening) Typical hours: 2:00 PM - 10:30 PM (hours may vary based on production requirements) Position Summary The 2nd Shift Metal Finishing Plater is responsible for processing customer parts through various metal finishing operations including anodizing, chemical conversion coating, electroless nickel plating, passivation, and other surface treatment processes. This position requires strict adherence to customer specifications, quality requirements, safety procedures, and production schedules while ensuring high-quality finished products. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Process parts through plating and finishing operations according to work instructions, specifications, and customer requirements. Perform anodizing, chemical film (chromate conversion), passivation, electroless nickel plating, cleaning, etching, and related metal finishing processes. Load and unload parts from process tanks using racks, fixtures, baskets, and hoists. Monitor and record process parameters including temperature, pH, concentration, voltage, current density, immersion times, and solution levels. Perform visual inspections of parts before, during, and after processing. Read and interpret work orders, engineering drawings, specifications, and process instructions. Conduct thickness testing, water-break testing, and other quality checks as required. Maintain accurate production, inspection, and process records. Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of tanks, equipment, fixtures, and work areas. Assist with chemical additions and bath maintenance under established procedures. Identify and report quality concerns, equipment issues, and process deviations. Follow all safety procedures related to hazardous chemicals, personal protective equipment (PPE), and environmental compliance. Support continuous improvement initiatives to increase productivity and quality. Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Previous manufacturing, plating, anodizing, metal finishing, or industrial production experience preferred. Ability to read and follow detailed work instructions and specifications. Basic math skills including measurement and calculation. Ability to work safely around chemicals and industrial equipment. Strong attention to detail and quality. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods. Reliable attendance and punctuality. Preferred Qualifications 1-3 years of experience in metal finishing, anodizing, plating, or aerospace manufacturing. Knowledge of aerospace specifications and quality requirements. Experience with NADCAP, AS9100, or ISO quality systems. Familiarity with thickness measurement equipment and inspection techniques. Forklift, crane, or hoist operation experience. Physical Requirements Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching. Ability to lift and move parts, racks, and fixtures up to 50 pounds. Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to chemicals, heat, humidity, and noise. Ability to wear required PPE including chemical-resistant gloves, aprons, face shields, safety glasses, and respirators when required. Working Conditions Industrial manufacturing and metal finishing environment. Exposure to acids, alkalis, plating solutions, and cleaning chemicals. Fast-paced production environment with quality and delivery deadlines. Overtime and weekend work may be required based on production needs. Accuracy of process documentation.
