POSITION OBJECTIVE

Keep production lines at maximum capacity and efficiency while maintaining quality standards. Operate various packaging equipment to accomplish requirements of Work Orders, basic machine maintenance, and sanitation. The Machine Operator is responsible for overseeing the work of a machine or group of machines. The Machine Operator 1 will help train the crew and maintain the workflow on the machines to assure the crews keeps up with the various machine output and run rate.

KEY RESULT AREAS

1. Must be able to manage the crew packing tea and/or making boxes and ensure that it is completed at a rapid and steady pace. 2. Must know the job description of the Line worker, Crew Leader and Machine Operator Trainee. 3. Must be able to identify and understand the different materials used to produce the products, such as the film, filter paper, cartons, the proper labels and the master cases. 4. Must be able to fill out all paperwork required by the job worker order. 5. Must know the names and function of the different machines used for these tea products, botanicals, herbs and spices. 6. Must know the process of management (chain of command), administration and staff members. 7. Must know how to prepare a job independently from beginning to end on the machine, and know how to clean the machines thoroughly at the end of a job with no supervision. Must know how to implement the return of unused items and products left over from a job and where to return these goods. 8. Must know the safety procedures of the machine and the purpose of the guards that the machine holds in place. 9. Must take on the role as a leader for the crew they're assigned . Must be able to communicate with the crew, Quality Control technician and supervisors regarding any problem with the product or machine immediately and be able to operate independently with no supervision 10. Must understand the best by dates and lot codes. 11. Must be familiar with the labeling process. Make sure the appropriate label is in accordance to the order on hand. Must know the difference between the different types of labels and which is appropriate for each work order. 12. The work will be done according to the output and quality standards of Starwest and our customers. 13. The machine Operator I must be familiar with at least 1 machine group independently and thoroughly. Know how to troubleshoot any problems that would arise on that particular product or machine group. 14. Follow master sanitation schedule. 15. Complete all other miscellaneous duties as assigned. 16. Support and follow all Company Policies and Procedures.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 1.

High School diploma or equivalent 2. Must have good communications skills in English and be able to read and write English 3. Must be a team player, but also be able to work independently 4. Must demonstrate good math skills 5. Must have a good knowledge of the line packaging operations. 6. Must be able to be licensed as a forklift operator 7. Machine Operator must successfully complete the Machine Operator Trainee program before going on to this level.

OTHER FACTORS

Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull 50 lbs often. Job requires confined sitting rarely. Requires standing, walking, and finger dexterity often. Requires climbing, crouching, and kneeling often. Frequent (Full Time) respirator use.
