Full Job Description Position Overview:
The Plating Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the plating department, ensuring that the plating processes are carried out efficiently, safely, and to high-quality standards. This position requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and attention to detail to ensure the department meets production goals, maintains safety standards, and consistently delivers high-quality products.
Key Responsibilities:
1.
Leadership and Team Management:
o Manage and lead a team of plating operators and technicians. o Provide training, guidance, and support to team members to improve skills and ensure high-quality plating operations. o Schedule and assign daily tasks and ensure adequate staffing for all shifts. 2.
Plating Process Oversight:
o Oversee all plating processes, including Cuposit, Cu Plate, I/L and O/L Etch, Hard Gold, Enig, & Oxide. o Monitor the plating lines to ensure adherence to quality, safety, and operational standards. o Troubleshoot and resolve any issues or challenges with plating processes and equipment. o Collaborate with other departments (e.g., engineering, quality control) to optimize plating processes and maintain smooth operations. 3.
Quality Control:
o Ensure that plated products meet required specifications, including thickness, uniformity, adhesion, and appearance. o Implement and monitor quality assurance procedures, conducting inspections and audits as needed. o Maintain records daily plating throughput at final Cuposit, and final Cu plate. 4.
Maintenance and Equipment Management:
o Oversee the maintenance and upkeep of plating equipment, ensuring optimal performance and minimal downtime. o Coordinate with maintenance teams to troubleshoot and resolve equipment malfunctions or issues. o Ensure that plating chemicals and materials are properly handled, stored, and disposed of in compliance with safety and environmental regulations. o Ensure Preventative Maintenance for weekend and monthly work is followed per schedule. This includes Carbon treatment of Cu tanks, Ni tanks, etc. 5.
Safety and Compliance:
o Enforce safety protocols and ensure that team members work in compliance with all safety regulations and company policies. o Conduct regular safety walkthrough or audits to ensure the plating department is a safe working environment. 6.
Process Improvement:
o Continuously assess plating processes to identify areas for improvement and implement cost-effective solutions. o Provide feedback to Engineering on any process related concerns. 7.
Documentation and Reporting:
o Maintain accurate records of production data, plating processes, and quality control checks. TrueChem checks and operator checklists fall under this category. The Plating Supervisor will be responsible to ensure these are completed with each shift. Any missed/passed due items should be addressed and followed up on with operators. o Prepare and present regular reports on production efficiency, quality, and any process improvements to upper management.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in plating Strong knowledge of plating processes, including electroplating, etching, and surface finishing. Excellent leadership and team management skills. Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail. Familiarity with industry safety standards and regulatory compliance. Proficient in using computer systems for reporting and tracking production data.
Work Environment:
This position is based in a manufacturing environment, and the Plating Manager must be able to work in a setting with various chemical materials and mechanical equipment. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) will be required.
Pay:
$75,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
