Job Description

Brookwood Laminating, Inc., a Division of Brookwood Companies, is a textile manufacturing plant located on Putnam Road in Wauregan, Connecticut. We are a manufacturer of high-tech laminate fabrics for military, medical, industrial, consumer apparel, and sailcloth applications. Brookwood Laminating is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
Job Summary:
The responsibilities of the Mixing Technician I, include, the mixing of raw materials to create finished products according to the batch sheets. Also responsible for weighing the correct chemicals and sampling finished product to quality for approval.
Summary of essential job functions:
  • Safety is the primary responsibility of all employees at Brookwood Laminating. Working safely, following safety rules and procedures, and supporting a safety conscious environment are requirements of employment.
  • Follow all
ISO 9001
2015 document control procedures and any applicable work instructions or procedures required by the Company.
  • Promote and embody corporate quality procedures
  • Operates machine that mixes specified chemicals and liquids according to formula to prepare solutions for use in processing exposed film.
  • Opens valves, starts pumps, and operates a variety of mixers Weighs specified chemicals on scale and dumps chemicals into drums/vessels.
  • Activates mixers and sets timer to mix ingredients for specified period of time.
  • Tests samples of solution for analysis, reviews analysis, and adds required amounts of chemicals to attain solution of specified standard.
  • Operates machine part soak tanks and be responsible for managing cleaning solution, adding pans to the tank, and removing parts once ready for use or storage.
  • Responds to chemical spills throughout the plant in an appropriate manner as per training.
  • Must be available to work overtime if needed.
  • Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.
Minimum requirements:
High School Diploma or GED. 1 Year factory related experience preferred. Chemical mixing experience in a production or laboratory environment a plus, we will train the right candidate. Must be able to follow directions. Must have good math skills.
Abilities required:
  • Must be a safety conscious worker.
  • Must have the ability to read and interpret drawings, follow routers, use simple math, and use basic hand measuring tools.
  • Must be a team player, able to work cooperatively with others and maintain a professional demeanor when interacting with co-workers and supervisors.
  • Must be detail-oriented and follow instructions as exactly specified.
  • Must be able to follow all safety procedures.
  • Must have previous chemical mixing experience in a production or laboratory environment.
