Jacksonville, FL (32216) Contract-to-hire Job Description The Can Packer Operator on 3rd shift plays a key role in a fast-paced manufacturing environment by operating packaging equipment, loading product onto the line, and ensuring production runs safely and efficiently. This is a highly physical role that involves handling 25-pound wraps throughout the shift, monitoring codes on the line for accuracy, troubleshooting equipment issues, and using a forklift to move product as needed. The ideal candidate brings solid machine operation and forklift experience, strong attention to detail, and a reliable, team-oriented work ethic. Responsibilities Operate can packing and related production machinery safely and efficiently throughout the 12-hour shift. Continuously load 25-pound wraps onto the production line and ensure materials are fed correctly into the equipment. Inspect the line regularly to verify codes and labels are correct, legible, and aligned with production requirements. Troubleshoot basic equipment issues, identify problems on the line, and take appropriate action to minimize downtime. Use a forklift to move product, materials, and supplies safely within the production area as needed. Monitor production flow and quality, promptly report any defects, irregularities, or safety concerns to the appropriate personnel. Follow established manufacturing procedures, safety protocols, and quality standards at all times. Work collaboratively with team members to meet production targets and maintain a smooth, efficient operation. Maintain a clean and organized work area, including equipment and surrounding production space. Demonstrate consistent, reliable attendance and flexibility to support additional shifts when coverage is needed. Essential Skills Proven experience as a machine operator in a manufacturing environment, with at least 2+ years of relevant background. Forklift experience and ability to safely operate a forklift to move product and materials. Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including standing for long periods and repeatedly lifting 25-pound wraps. Strong attention to detail for checking line codes, monitoring equipment, and ensuring product quality. Demonstrated reliability with strong attendance and punctuality. Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced production setting. Comfort working in a loud, non-climate-controlled manufacturing environment. Willingness and ability to work a 12-hour night shift on a 2-2-3 schedule. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous experience in general production or packaging within a manufacturing facility. Experience with machine setup, basic troubleshooting, and minor adjustments on production equipment. Comfort operating multiple types of manufacturing machinery and production equipment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Jacksonville, FL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $21.00/hr.
