Tufting Machine Operator

Overview:

The Tufting Operator is responsible for inspecting the Turf at assigned machine(s) for quality.

Responsibilities:

Operate the machine(s) and repair any quality problems by changing hooks, blades and needles Change and secure backing for machines as is needed Keep machine threaded properly Work in the Creel Rack when necessary, or when Creelers are not available Mend or correct all defects Start and doff rolls as stated on the Tufting Spec Sheets Print roll tickets and attach to rolls Accurately record production in Epicor Keep blade blocks jigged with sharp blades by using the jig specified for each machine Keep equipment free of lint or dirt

Qualifications:

Able to read Stitch Gauge Able to check pile height and stitches Lifting is required of cores weighing up to 40 lbs. and cones of yarn weighing up to 12 lbs. Must be able to stand, walk, climb, crouch, bend, and crawl under machine Frequent reaching and bending is required to thread machine while machine is running Must be able to use basic hand tools throughout shift Must be able to distinguish color and shade differences Occasionally required to climb, balance, and kneel Must be able to reach up to 6.5 feet and exert 10 lbs. of pressure Must be able to push yarn carts of up to 500 pounds, and with another team member, push rolls of backing weighing up to 1900 lbs. on a cart' Experience with Tie Machine is preferred but not required '
