Job Description:
The Packaging & Loading Operator is responsible for the safe, accurate, and efficient operation of packaging, material handling, warehouse, and bulk loading systems. This role supports daily production goals by preparing materials, operating machinery, monitoring product quality, and maintaining detailed records. Ideal candidates thrive in physically demanding environments, follow strict safety and food safety protocols, and contribute to a clean, organized, and high-performing facility.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • All job duties require attention to safe operation and demonstration of safe work habits and behaviors. This includes the use of appropriate personal protective equipment for the job task.
  • Observe all Safety and Food Safety guidelines and adhere to all company rules and policies as well as good manufacturing practices.
  • All duties include general area housekeeping responsibilities.
  • All duties require attention to product specifications and proper product handling.
  • All duties require equipment and tank inspection in accordance with safety and operating procedures.
  • Employee must successfully complete Grain Craft's forklift training and certification in order to operate the forklift as part of job duties.
  • Commitment to supply safe food, maintain a food safety culture within the site, continually improve the site's food safety management system; and comply with customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Additional duties as requested or assigned. Packaging Operator
  • Operate equipment safely and productively.
  • Responsible for pre-work material preparation to ensure proper supplies including but not limited to bags, pallets, stickers, slip sheets, plastic wrap are stocked.
  • Responsible for ensuring bags are sealed and printer is operating correctly.
  • Check bag weights.
  • Ensure bag integrity before placing on pallet.
  • Responsible for accurate record keeping of pallet weight and lot numbers.
  • Collect Samples for quality testing. Material Handler Key Duties
  • Ensure printing on bags is accurate and correct bags are being used by baggers.
  • Ensure accurate record keeping is maintained.
  • Responsible for forklift general operations including fluid check and fueling.
Warehouse Key Duties:
  • Load/unload shipments.
  • Responsible for filling product orders.
  • Responsible for accurate record keeping of warehouse inventory of products.
  • Responsible for forklift general operations including fluid check and fueling Bulk Systems Key Duties
  • Responsible for directing of product into silos and accurate record keeping of lot numbers and silo inventory.
  • Monitor and adjust flour flow when filling tanks and accurate record keeping of weights, inbound and outbound.
  • Accurately record truck scale, weights and scale tickets.
  • Accurate record keeping of tank seals and documentation.
  • Responsible for tank placement for truck driver pick-up.
Qualifications Required:
1 year or more of relevant work experience including forklift and warehouse experience preferred. Must be able to proficiently read and write in English for the purposes of record keeping and safety training and processes. Must have basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and understand various units of measure (US Currency, Imperial weights and measurements, Metric weights and measurements), common fractions and decimal usage. Demonstrated ability to work in a safety conscious environment.
Preferred:
Previous experience working in a food manufacturing facility is a plus
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT
Physically able to work outside, climb ladders and lift 100 lbs., tolerate dust and high or low temperature. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly Frequent standing, walking, bending, squatting, and kneeling Comfortable working at heights and on ladders or scaffolding Manual dexterity and fine motor skills for operating tools and machinery Tolerance for noisy, dusty, or hot/cold environments Ability to wear required PPE such as safety glasses, gloves, ear protection, and respirators Visual acuity and hearing sufficient to identify mechanical or safety issues Stamina to work 12-hour shifts or rotating schedules as needed This position is contingent upon successfully passing Grain Craft's background screening, physical (if applicable) and drug-screening.
