Job Description

Summary:
Tends to one or more machine tools to produce parts according to the specifications provided. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, gathering material, setting up and running machines, maintaining the quality and progress of parts, and performing the required maintenance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
Tends to one or more machine tools, special-purpose machines, or industrial robots to machine metal work pieces to specifications on production basis. May obtain correct amount of material for each job. Records material used for each job. Lifts work pieces manually or using hoist and secures work pieces in fixtures or loads automatic feeding devices. Starts and monitors machining processes. Performs accurate and timely inspections required by the print/job sheet, and/or workgroup leaders, the quality assurance manager, or a manufacturing manager.
Competencies :
Applies common sense to basic work processes. Carries out detailed, but simply stated, written or oral instructions. Handles problems involving a few concrete and routine job specific variables. Adds, subtracts, multiplies and divides all units of measurement with both common and decimal fractions. Reads and interpret blueprints. Takes measurements and verifies conformance to the print. Possesses mechanical aptitude, including a basic understanding of the various types of tools used in the machining process.
