Job Title:
Production Machine Operator Job Description This role involves operating and setting up production machinery and fabrication equipment to manufacture and assemble conveyor belts according to work order specifications. You will perform mechanical fabrication and assembly tasks, use hand and power tools, and ensure products meet quality and accuracy standards while maintaining a safe and organized work area. Responsibilities Operate and set up production machinery, fabrication equipment, and power tools according to work instructions and safety guidelines. Perform mechanical fabrication and assembly of conveyor belts to meet work order specifications and quality standards. Measure, cut, and prepare conveyor belts, ensuring precise dimensions and proper fit for each job. Install mechanical fasteners and related components on conveyor belts as required by the work order. Read and follow work instructions, basic blueprints, and measurements to ensure accurate fabrication and assembly. Adjust and troubleshoot equipment and processes to maintain product quality, efficiency, and smooth operation. Perform additional belt work such as installing cleats, guides, and other general modifications as needed. Track materials used in production and complete basic production documentation accurately and on time. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, following all safety protocols and company procedures. Support general machine operation, material handling, and shop tasks, including assisting team members as needed. Operate warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks and sit-down forklifts when required for material handling. Use hand tools, power tools, and measuring devices correctly to complete fabrication and assembly tasks. Essential Skills At least 1 year of manufacturing experience or experience in a skilled trade. Mechanical aptitude and a strong, mechanically minded approach to problem-solving. Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately for cutting and measuring materials. Experience with production, assembly, and machine operation in a manufacturing or warehouse setting. Ability to read and follow basic blueprints and work instructions. Proficiency using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively. Capability to perform general labor tasks, including material handling and shop support. Comfort working with fabrication equipment and conveyor belt components. Basic documentation skills to track materials and complete production records. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience operating warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks and sit-down forklifts. Exp in mechanical work such as auto maintenance or oil changes. Familiarity with warehouse inventory processes and material tracking. Exposure to CNC or other automated machinery. Ability to troubleshoot minor mechanical issues on machines and equipment. Comfort working with blueprints and technical drawings to guide fabrication and assembly. Why Work Here? Work Environment This position operates in a standard warehouse environment on a day shift schedule of 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with limited overtime. The facility can become hot or cold when doors are open, so you should be comfortable working in varying temperatures. You will work around production machinery, fabrication equipment, and conveyor belt materials, using hand tools, power tools, and material handling equipment such as pallet jacks and sit-down forklifts. The role requires adherence to safety protocols, maintaining a clean and organized work area, and wearing appropriate work attire suitable for a warehouse and manufacturing setting. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of West Des Moines, IA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
