Machine Operator is an entry level position with no certification required. The purpose for an operator at this level is to learn and train on the basic understandings of all Machining specific operations. Operators have the basic level ability to set up and operate a variety of CNC and manual machines to produce precision parts with immediate supervision by a certified machine operator (level II or above). Follow established standard work under immediate supervision in efforts to obtain certification. Operator follows and complies with established standard work practices under immediate supervision. The operator will typically refer to problems or deviations to more experienced operators including Lead Technicians, supervisors or engineers. External candidates will receive a $3,000 sign on bonus. What You Will Do Learn how to set up and operate precision manual and/or computerized machining centers according to standard work. Learn how to adjust machine feed/spindle speeds and the changing of tooling and cutters per machining. Learn how to read and interpret blueprints and specifications. Understand and follow quality testing techniques. Learn how to inspect product using precision gauges, measuring instruments and equipment. Demonstrate proficiency in Manufacturing Documentation and Labor Transactions. Support and follow all rules/guidelines/standards set by EHS, Quality, and CI functions as set by your leader and position. Actively participates in the Continuous Improvement process as well as safety related activities. Working extended shifts/overtime as required by the business. Some Holiday hours may be required based on business need. What You Will Learn This position is an opportunity to start your career and grow with Collins. Qualifications You Must Have Typically requires HS Diploma or vocational/technical education in a related discipline. Qualifications We Prefer Manufacturing background. Manual dexterity to perform tasks associated with machine operations. Ability to learn how to read and understand prints. Computer experience (e-mail, print documents, internet) and ability to learn how to operate a computer to access prints and/or specified work instructions. Basic shop math including knowledge of Geometric Tolerances. Basic knowledge with identifying, analyzing, and resolving problems. Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of employees and management.
