Job Description

Job Overview Machine Operator I - Development Level Savage-Aagesen Woodworking Position Summary The Machine Operator I position is the entry-level role within SAW. This role is responsible for developing foundational skills in machine operation, safety, and production processes under supervision. This position is structured to support employee development while maintaining production and quality standards. Essential Job Functions The following are core duties of this position: Learn and operate assigned machinery under supervision Follow all safety procedures and shop standards Produce parts that meet quality specifications Read and follow work orders, cut lists, and instructions Maintain a clean and organized work area Handle materials and assist in workflow processes Physical Requirements Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (8-10 hours per shift) Ability to lift, carry, and move materials up to 50 lbs regularly, and more with assistance Frequent use of hands for handling tools and materials Ability to bend, twist, reach, and perform repetitive motions Ability to work in a manufacturing environment (dust, noise, machinery) Work Environment Industrial woodworking environment with exposure to machinery, dust, and noise Use of required personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory Work performed on a fixed schedule with defined start times Performance Expectations Employees are evaluated based on: Safety compliance Quality of work Productivity relative to expectations Reliability and attendance Willingness to learn and apply feedback
Compensation Starting Wage:
$20.00/hour 30-
Day Review:
$22.00/hour (based on performance and satisfactory completion of onboarding benchmarks) 6-
Month Review:
$23.00/hour (based on demonstrated progress and consistency) Compensation adjustments are not automatic and are subject to performance review and business needs. Advancement Criteria Advancement to Operator II is based on demonstrated: Competency and consistency in machine operation Ability to perform duties with reduced supervision Adherence to company standards Employment & Compliance Statement This position description is intended to describe the general nature of the work performed.
