Job Title:
Batch Mixer Job Description This role involves blending batches to produce high-quality adhesives, sealants, and coatings by following detailed recipes and process guidelines. You will work with dry chemicals, operate and set up production equipment, and support the safe and efficient flow of materials throughout the facility. The position requires hands-on work in a manufacturing environment, close collaboration with a lead or senior operator, and a strong focus on accuracy, cleanliness, and equipment upkeep. Responsibilities Blend batches of adhesives, sealants, and coatings by following recipe guides and cookbooks to ensure consistent product quality. Weigh raw ingredients accurately and prepare materials according to specified formulas and production requirements. Work with dry chemicals in a safe and controlled manner while using appropriate protective equipment, including a respirator. Set up machinery, hoses, tankers, and related equipment required for batch mixing and production runs. Stage and gather raw materials from designated rooms and storage areas to support scheduled production runs. Use vacuums and other equipment to stage, move, and transfer products and raw materials throughout the production area. Perform routine inspections on equipment, batches, and work areas to identify issues and maintain quality standards. Assist with basic maintenance and cleaning of machinery and production equipment to keep operations running smoothly. Sweep workstations and keep machinery and surrounding areas clean, organized, and free of debris. Support packaging, bottling, and line work as needed, including filling and handling containers during production. Perform manual loading and other physical labor tasks, including heavy lifting, to support production and material handling. Operate a sit-down forklift to move materials, products, and equipment safely around the facility as required. Collaborate closely with the lead or senior operator to receive training, learn procedures, and follow best practices. Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment, and report any hazards or concerns promptly. Work a first-shift schedule with the flexibility to work a few hours of overtime and occasional, optional Saturday shifts. Essential Skills At least 3 years of experience in mixing, blending, or similar batch-making operations. Hands-on experience with packaging, bottling, and production line work in a manufacturing environment. Proficiency in weighing and mixing materials accurately according to specified recipes or formulas. Ability to perform manual loading and labor-intensive tasks, including frequent heavy lifting. Experience operating a sit-down forklift safely in a production or warehouse setting. Comfort working with dry chemicals while following safety protocols and wearing a respirator. High school diploma or GED. Ability to wear and work in steel-toe footwear and other required personal protective equipment. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Capability to work first shift (approximately 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.) with some overtime and occasional Saturdays. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with batch mixing, batch making, or batch testing in a chemical, coatings, or similar production environment. Background in hand filling, cooking, or recipe-based production processes. Familiarity with setting up and operating blending equipment, tankers, and related production machinery. Comfort working around conveyors and various departments within a production facility. Willingness to learn new tasks and progress into higher-level operator roles over time. Work Environment The role is based in a smaller, organized facility that is actively focused on continuous improvement. The warehouse and production floor are kept clean and arranged to allow products and materials to flow easily between different departments. Batch mixing takes place in dedicated rooms equipped with various tankers and blending equipment, and employees work around machinery and conveyors as part of their daily activities. Team members receive hands-on training and guidance on each task to ensure they work safely and effectively. The position is on first shift, typically from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with a few hours of overtime expected and occasional, non-mandatory Saturday work. The environment involves working with dry chemicals while wearing a respirator and requires steel-toe footwear and other appropriate personal protective equipment to support a safe and compliant workplace. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Alsip, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $24.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
