Job Title:
Machine Operator Job Description This role offers the opportunity to operate and maintain high-speed carton and gluing equipment in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You will work with older, belt-driven machinery, performing make-ready, monitoring performance, and ensuring consistent product quality. The position suits mechanically inclined, hands-on problem solvers who can troubleshoot equipment, perform minor repairs, and know when to escalate issues to maintenance to keep production running efficiently and safely in a GMP-regulated facility. Responsibilities Operate high-speed finishing and gluer equipment in a GMP-regulated manufacturing environment. Set up and perform machine make-ready, including adjusting forming bars to meet specific carton size and production requirements. Verify that production jobs are running correctly according to the production schedule and job specifications. Fill glue systems and correctly position rollers to ensure consistent and accurate adhesive application. Continuously monitor machine performance to identify signs of malfunction, inefficiency, or quality issues. Perform basic mechanical troubleshooting on machines and carry out minor repairs within defined capabilities. Escalate complex mechanical or technical issues promptly to the maintenance department to minimize downtime. Inspect cartons and finished product for quality, ensuring they meet required standards and specifications. Support changeovers between jobs, assisting with adjustments and setup to meet new production requirements. Follow all GMP and facility procedures to maintain a clean, organized, and compliant production area. Essential Skills Proven mechanical aptitude and comfort working with machinery and tools. Experience operating high-speed manufacturing or packaging equipment, or strong comfort working in high-speed environments. Ability to perform basic mechanical troubleshooting and minor equipment repairs. Capability to read and follow production schedules and job specifications. Attention to detail when inspecting cartons and monitoring machine performance. Willingness and ability to work in a GMP-regulated manufacturing facility and follow established procedures. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous experience in high-speed manufacturing or packaging environments. Experience operating printing machines, packaging machinery, or box-making and corrugated equipment. Familiarity with changeovers and make-ready processes in a production setting. GMP experience or training in regulated manufacturing environments (nice to have). Why Work Here? Work Environment You will work in a GMP-regulated manufacturing facility that operates high-speed finishing, gluing, and carton-making equipment, including older belt-driven machines. You will spend most of your time on the production floor, working hands-on with machinery, performing setups, adjustments, and inspections in a structured and process-driven setting. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Centralia, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $24.91 - $27.36/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
